Affirmations
Affirmations are the practice of stating your intentions — in regard to who you’ll become — as if you already are, with feeling, repeatedly.
“We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all the power we need inside ourselves already.”
The Absolute Simplest Way to Begin with Affirmations:
Decide who you want to be.
Say who you want to be, as if you are.
As you speak, feel—with all your senses—as if you are.
Repeat until you believe.
Believe until you become.
That’s it. Say it. Feel it. Believe it. Become it.
Tip: Make some of your affirmations actionable. That way, as you begin to do the actions, you’ll lend credibility to the rest of your affirmations. Example: I am disciplined; I make my bed every day. Then start making your bed every day, and every time you do, you’ll believe a little bit more that you are disciplined.
“The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.”
I Practice Meditation Daily Because:
Because I regularly have intense negative thought tornadoes, and I will drown them out with positivity if it’s the last thing I do.
I’ve been repeating these on and off for several months now. For the last month, I’ve successfully stuck to my diet and exercise plan. I’ve regularly completed almost all of the habits I list. And I’ve felt more inline with the character traits I’m developing.
I don’t know that it was all from the affirmations, but I will say, that I found myself doing things simply because I said I was doing them, before I even started my more hardcore bootcamp type season that I’m in right now. It was after I’d been saying them for a few weeks, and in fact I noticed it after I’d stopped saying them for a couple days, but my mind made a connection. It was easier to do the things, that I should have been doing all along, that felt too hard before.
The thought tornados are less frequent, and when those storms do come out, I can pull out my affirmations and they help dissipate them.
“Rule your mind, or it will rule you”
Affirmations Can Improve Your Life in Many Ways:
1. Affirmations may aid in manifesting your desires.
As you speak you visualize. As you visualize you feel. As you feel you believe. As you believe you become. This is basically how manifestation works. Either you sort of magically shift your reality, or your just more in line with this new version of you, thus you’re more likely to engage in behaviors appropriate to it and notice things that will be beneficial to it.
2. Affirmations remind you how you want to behave.
If you're saying it to yourself regularly. Odds are you’ll remember it when it’s relevant. Example: “I am calm” is what I say regularly. Then, something happens that would normally make me lose it. Thankfully I remember “I am calm” and it gives me more power to decide to remain calm.
3. Affirmations prepare you for your future reality.
Since you’re visualizing how you’ll feel, think, and act in future moments regularly. When those future moments arrived, you’ll be ready for them. Example: “I am a great speaker” Is what you say. You visualize yourself on a stage speaking, people turned to you with rapt attention. You feel confident, and focused, and inspired. Then the day comes. You’re giving a speech. Instead of feeling the insane anxiety that comes with public speaking for the first time. You feel as if you’ve already done it before, and you know exactly what to do and feel.
Improve the Character Skills: Confidence, Positivity
Different Things for Different People: People who are not able to invoke their senses in their imaginations. Saying the words alone will have some minor benefits, but the real benefits of affirmations come when you can deeply visualize and feel them as if they are real, because they are in a future reality, as you speak them.
“Find a place inside where there’s joy, and the joy will burn out the pain.”
Practicing Meditation Can Help You Overcome Negative Thinking
Be ridiculous…. Completely flood your mind with hope and positivity until there is simply no room left for the bad.
“The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude.”

Only really mentions affirmations in one or two chapters, but I like her take on them.
